Brenda Nelson Brisby was born to the late Jessie Cooks and Lee Autry Nelson Duffie on February 23, 1952 in Hope, Arkansas. Brenda attended Yerger High School. At an early age she joined Mt. Hebron Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Evans. Later she united with St. John Baptist Church, under the leadership of Pastor Nance. Brenda worked at Champion Parts in Hope, Arkansas.
She was preceded in death by father, Jessie Cooks, husband, Tyrone Brisby and son, James D. (Fat) Thornton.

Those left with cherished memories: children, Dennis Thornton of Hope, Arkansas, Larry Thornton of Omaha, Nebraska, Cherrelle Mask (Virgil) of Hope, Arkansas, Brandy Edwards (Carolyn) of Hope, Arkansas; brothers, Apostle B. L. Kingsby (Shirley), Melvin Weston (Sharon), Larry Weston, Billy Cooks, all of Hope, Arkansas; daughter-in-law, Delphine Thornton. Brenda has nine grandchildren; a host of family, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, November 7, 2015 at 11:00 am St. John Baptist Church 1000 N. Greening St. Hope, AR.
